Present birthstones made their mark in American society as of 1912. The original stones that were adopted by the Polish culture were inadvertently changed. Nonetheless the stones do still bare the same symbolism.
The stone for January is garnet, while the stone for July is shown as a ruby or onyx. Loads of people will avidly wear these stones in pieces of jewelry as a means to illustrate to people what month of the year they were born.
